1991 is a bespoke sustainable cowboy boot brand offering timeless, hand crafted limited cowboy boot collections inspired by romance and nostalgia for the west.
Our ethos is to be timeless, classic & modern. This mantra threads through every part of our design process, resulting in products that are humble and without artifice. Less really is more.
We design with the intent that our styles will last a lifetime, are not disposable, and don’t become obsolete with the changing of the seasons. Our designs are timeless, with purpose; in each product’s aesthetic so that they transcend trends, but importantly also in manufacturing with integrity so that our products stand the test of time.
Quality is our utmost priority. We work in close partnership with our Leon, Mexico boot makers to maintain the high quality we expect of ourselves.
The 1991 style is undeniably recognizable, with a definitive classic style and clearly identifiable aesthetic.
Our Story
Kirah Perle is the designer and founder of 1991. As a reflection of her years spent in the fashion & marketing industry which highlighted the lack of representation of modern women at the helm of western brands and the noticeable absence of modern, timeless and feminine designs, Kirah was inspired to create something different.
The collections themselves would be a celebration of her love for a slower & simpler life, representing her appreciation for sustainable traditions, and her love for ranches & farms. Designed with a keen reverence for the traditions of the west, meticulously crafted to pass on for generations, 1991 boots evoke a modern and timeless take on cowboy boots.
1991 exists to honor the bond between women and the natural world and those who choose to live their lives in our creations.
Kirah hand designs the boots, designs the merch, the branding & the website. 1991 is a one woman show — we are not a corporation, we are a small business made of hopes & dreams.
Sustainabilty
Respecting the planet and it's people are vital to our production. We’re collectively on a path of continual growth and industry innovation across all aspects of our business in order to become as ethical and sustainable as possible.
We create our boots from low-impact and organic materials. We enlist the help of the Leather Working Group to source sustainable leather production, and work with the most sustainable leather tannery in the world. Our cowboy boot makers are a small family owned shop made locally to León, Mexico. We seek to build relationships with all of our partners and ensure positive environmental and social impacts of our products.
Our collections are made small batch and are limited edition. We are a small company & will always seek to leave a small carbon footprint.

Location
Currently we are based in beautiful Colorado on Kirah’s small homestead on 5 acres and in jackson, Wyoming — designing from a historic cabin on one of the first cattle ranches in the valley.
